Customer Service

Pros:

  • "They sat on the ground until she was ready for them. They went above and beyond."
  • "I felt like a nervous mom because they took Tommy to the back without me for some shots, and I expressed to the front that I was nervous because I’m sure he was anxious, and within seconds she went to the back and took some pictures of the tech holding him, to show me he was doing okay!"
  • "Everyone here goes out of their way to always make my pups feel special."
  • "They were so caring and compassionate about my situation and were so eager to help!"
  • "Everyone I spoke to and met along the way were so professional and friendly."
  • "The staff is amazing. So friendly and GREAT with my Shiba."
  • "Everyone working there is pleasant, kind and caring."

Cons:

  • "I would never recommend this place. Floors in entry filthy."
  • "Do not use this Veterinary facility ... they are all about the money and looking to bill you as much as they can."
  • "Horrible place."
  • "Unfortunately we will never recommend Budd Lake Animal Hospital again and never go back there."
  • "This place just lies."
  • "Worst experience! They lie at the counter, they lie when discuss services and prices, they lie when discuss medications... the lie about treatment..."
  • "They’ve become so commercialized that the care is impersonal, and the prices have nearly doubled."

Quality of Care

Pros:

  • "They are reasonably priced and I know my dog is in the best hands when I take him there."
  • "I’ve had two emergencies with my dog, and they were able to see him right away and took time to really make sure he was okay!"
  • "Their vet techs are great and we have met 4 of the vets and each connected well with us and our dogs."
  • "The staff and Dr. Horn are always welcoming and demonstrate utmost care."
  • "Dr. Schneider is absolutely the best!"
  • "Dr. Horn was extremely kind and professional. He provided my dog Julie with exceptional care."
  • "The vet was knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything thoroughly."

Cons:

  • "If my dog had been hit by a car, this would have had a very different ending."
  • "They just kept saying bland diet and pumpkin to clear it up. A dog should not go 3 weeks with diarrhea and be treated like it’s normal."
  • "Unfortunately this was the last visit I pay them."
  • "Budd Lake Animal Hospital clearly doesn’t care about your pet."
  • "Horrible experience, vet misdiagnosed my dog and when I mentioned it I was treated like I was the problem."
  • "Misdiagnosed our cat multiple times, put him though so much unnecessary testing."
  • "Dr. Horn seemed less interested in his plight than the 1200 or more for dental work! SHAMEFUL!"

Facility and Accessibility

Pros:

  • "They took over another vet's location (former vet - had a terrible experience there), and really cleaned up the site. It used to be dirty and smelly, but not with Budd Lake Animal Hospital."
  • "Super clean. From receptionist to vet, everyone was so nice."
  • "I love this animal hospital so much that I drive 40 minutes just to go there! You can't go wrong here."
  • "The office is clean and everything runs smoothly."
  • "First vet visit with my new puppy & I had a fantastic experience. Clean friendly environment & the staff is all awesome & super helpful."
  • "Pricing is also a lot better than many other hospitals in the area and they’re very organized."
  • "I was greeted by a professional and courteous receptionist, the place was clean and absent of any odors."

Cons:

  • "Don’t go here they post that all vaccines are free when I asked about it they are only “free” if you sign up for an expensive yearly membership!"
  • "EDIT: Dr. Schneider left Budd Lake Animal Hospital due to personal reasons and it has been IMPOSSIBLE to get Budd Lake to transfer my dog's vet records."
  • "They state the vaccines are 'free' however that's a lie, they makeup for the prices elsewhere."
  • "No emergency services so if your pet is taken ill just go directly to Newton or another 24 hr vet because they don't have facilities for emergency."
  • "It’s impossible to get appointments now, and they are now denying care if you are even slightly late."
  • "Today I got extremely frustrated and upset because I had an appointment at 12:20pm...45minutes later, after no one approached my car and after 2 phonecalls, I get another call...they are booked fully for the rest of the day and if they can reschedule my appointment."
  • "Between the astronomical increase of pricing, and the denial of care for a short routine vaccine appointment, it is the final straw."

Value and Pricing

Pros:

  • "They are reasonably priced and I know my dog is in the best hands when I take him there."
  • "It really was only $84, less than half of what my other vet used to charge and service was excellent."
  • "Their prices are reasonable and well visits include vaccines free of charge."
  • "And the prices is definitely reasonable I was expecting to pay more to be honest."
  • "With 2 dogs and 1 cat, the no charge for immunizations saves me about $400 a year!"
  • "Pricing is also a lot better than many other hospitals in the area and they’re very organized."
  • "I thought their fee for nail trimming and anal gland expression was a bit high, but they do not charge for immunizations."

  • "But my biggest issue were the prices !!! Outrageous! Their prices are extremely expensive and they charge you for very little things."
  • "They’ve become so commercialized that the care is impersonal, and the prices have nearly doubled."
  • "I thought the cost was a bit high."
  • "Between the astronomical increase of pricing, and the denial of care for a short routine vaccine appointment, it is the final straw."
