Food Quality

Pros:

  • "Noodles are thick and fresh."
  • "The pomodoro sauces tasted exactly how a tomato sauce should taste and the sauce to pasta ratio was just right."
  • "The pasta is delicious. I had the mushroom with basil in cream sauce."
  • "The pasta itself is thick and cooked really well."
  • "The pasta is amazing! It was so fresh (they make it on the spot) and had such a good bite to it."
  • "The pasta puttanesca was excellent."
  • "The pasta is made fresh in house and served with fresh grated Romano cheese."

Cons:

  • "Omg it was so thick and dry it feels like you are eating clumps of flour."
  • "The pasta didn’t have much flavor and didn’t taste as great as we expected."
  • "The real let down was the noodles, they are like super thick and somewhat gummy spaghetti noodles."
  • "The flavors are very mild and watery, creamy pastas are not as creamy and the tomatoes pastas taste like canned tomato pasta."
  • "The bigoli noodles were so thick and dense that it diminished the quality of the dish."
  • "Maybe I just don't like the texture of FRESH pasta ... I found it rather gummy in texture."
  • "The pasta itself is great but the sauce is a bit unusual - I got the bolognese and it was missing enough liquid, basically became just 'chunk' tomato and beef, so hard to move around the pasta in."

Service

Pros:

  • "Great food and even greater service!"
  • "The owner and a team are great welcoming people."
  • "Sebastian the owner is a sweetheart who is clearly passionate about good Italian cooking."
  • "The chef is such a welcoming person. Serves you himself & greets you so warmly."
  • "The staff were also very lovely."
  • "Super friendly staff and amazing pasta."
  • "The service is spectacular, with staff checking in on you as you enjoy the pasta."

Cons:

  • "Evidence of mice or live mice present in facility's food and/or non-food areas."
  • "Never on time with the deliveries."
  • "And they forgot to give me the salad."
  • "terrible food, bad service, I ordered a al tacchino, waited over an hour for my food and the turkey tasted expired."
  • "Service was mediocre."
  • "I didn’t like that when you pay, it automatically starts with a 10% tip and you have to notice it then remove it if you don’t want to tip just for ordering at a counter."
  • "Instead of sauce coming up a massive cluster of long black hair appeared."

Value

Pros:

  • "Decent portions for $11-$12 for handmade pasta."
  • "Simple, affordable and hands down the best pasta in New York."
  • "Given the prices in the UES this is the most affordable I’ve seen pasta."
  • "The kicker is its affordable, and the staff is wonderful."
  • "Great pasta for a great deal!"
  • "Amazing high quality and tasty pasta for such a low price!"
  • "You get an excellent serving for the price."

Cons:

  • "Dissapointed. The reviews made it sound better than it was."
  • "The portion was not as large as I would have liked, but the quality and taste compensates for that a hundred times over."
  • "Pasta is good enough but not great. I would pay a little more and actually go to a nicer Italian place."
  • "Got the ground beef pasta (Mazza??). Very simple and tasty but for just pasta with beef $12.99 seems like a lot even for nyc."
  • "The man at the counter indicated the container he would use. Then he only filled it halfway."
  • "It seemed the staff put mostly noodles in first and then sauce on top."
  • "Ragu lacked flavor and salt but the pomodoro was decent."

  • "The thought of it nauseates me to this very moment."
  • "The worst restaurant I’ve ever ordered food..!"
  • "Honestly, the one star is mainly out of my irrational, extreme saltiness of having really looked forward to enjoying some pasta from a fairly aesthetic restaurant after a long week."

  • "Bigoi Venezia had an A rating from the health department."
  • "The pasta here is freshly made and is served with a homemade, friendly smile."
