  • "Honestly the best thing that we did in NYC was go up here in time to see the sunset... the view is spectacular."
  • "Undoubtedly one of the greatest view of Manhattan."
  • "The views of the New York skyline and the first class bar staff made the $300.00 worth of (lots of drinks) definitely worth it."
  • "You're paying for the views here. It's posh. It's expensive. But the views are absolutely spectacular."
  • "The view is really breathtaking!"
  • "The most spectacular view of Manhattan, you will feel a bit like cattle when you try to go outside to take photos, but this is understandable with the place's popularity."

Cons:

  • "This place is a super noisy tourist trap."
  • "Right in the center of it all - for better or worse."
  • "Amazing they can take a great view and turn it into such an underwhelming space."
  • "When its raining the balcony is closed so we couldn’t enjoy the view."
  • "The view, although obscured by the tables lining the perimeter of the bar, was nice."
  • "It’s mainly a tourist trap. The view is alright, when you can get close to a window, but the place is cheap and you have to make a reservation in advance if you want to be able to have a seat."
  • "The vibe once at the bar is better, with a more formalized dress code, luxe aesthetics, and great views of midtown."

  • "The servers were great - all very friendly, helpful and attentive!"
  • "Awesome friendly professional server."

  • "The staff was extremely polite and professional."

Cons:

  • "Through the night we saw our waitress less and less."

  • "The service was just ok nothing outstanding or above and beyond."
  • "The service is awful."
  • "Sadly, our waiter could not have made us feel less welcome and at one point even rolled his eyes."
  • "The initial poor service unfortunately continued and overall was some of the worst I have come across anywhere."

Food and Drinks

Pros:

  • "The cheese plate is very good and the drinks are well made."
  • "Cocktails were great!"
  • "The food was delicious, very good service."
  • "The food is good, serving high end interpretations of bar room classics, and the best part is service is pretty fast."
  • "The food, it turned out, was excellent, all the more enriching our enjoyment of the champagne."
  • "The chicken was VERY good though and I highly recommend it."
  • "The drinks were excellent - cocktails and selection of beers were extensive as well as many different bottles to choose from."

Cons:

Dress Code and Reservations

Pros:

  • "Make sure you follow the dress code (business casual or similar) and perhaps pick a quieter night too, reserve a table if you can!"
  • "Do dress for a special evening, as you will enjoy it even more, and you will feel perfectly at home with the rest of the patrons."
  • "The vibe once at the bar is better, with a more formalized dress code."
  • "You just need to be smart/business casual and a bit self confidence if you don't have any reservation."
  • "The dress is genuinely business casual but feel free to throw on a tie because it is NYC and you’ll never be overdressed."
  • "Tips: 1) dress code strictly enforced (collared shirt and long pants)..."
  • "They take reservations here on opentable so definitely make one if you plan to visit!"

Cons:

  • "As we waited they let every single person who came to the podium in, no matter how inappropriate their dress."
  • "Dress code is nonexistent."
  • "Inconsistent dress regulation."
  • "Refused entry as I was not wearing a collared shirt."
  • "Very disappointed with the process of Bar 65 pretending that your reservations are in the Rainbow Room for a great romantic dinner with white tablecloths, when you end up being herded like cattle into a cold cafeteria type setting with people crawling over you taking pictures, I will never return to this farce of an establishment filled with deceit."
  • "Booking is essential, you may get in the standing bar area but not a table unless you have booked."
  • "Do not make reservations because you must order at least one item per person at the table. The food was not the best, in fact it was cold."
