Park Atmosphere

"This is a beautiful place by the water. Its so calming and peaceful."
"Whether you're seeking a quiet retreat, a place to enjoy outdoor activities, or simply a scenic spot to appreciate the beauty of New York City, Rockefeller Park is a must-visit destination that leaves visitors feeling refreshed and inspired."
"One of the NYCβs hidden gems!"
"Absolutely stunning view & atmosphere ALL around ππ"
"The park is well maintained and quite unique in terms of the layout, the sculpture and amenities."
Cons:
"The only issue is that the public restroom is closed at this time and it's really... really important."
"Thereβs a homeless man that has been around the park for years and he takes a dump in the park."
"The only thing that could make this park better is if they had public restrooms."
"However finding parking is going to be a bit of a challenge."
"The smell may not always be so great, and there may occasionally be smokers of tobacco, marijuana, or other substances that don't respect your right of breathing fresh air."
"Great park, green space is currently closed for the season."
"The park is particularly busy during the weekends of the summer months filled with both local residents as well as visitors from other areas of NYC and tourists from around the country and the world."
Children's Activities
Pros:
"An amazing park with amazing views! The playground has lots of activities for the kids too! Water fountains and sand boxes are among the favorites!"
"Great playground with lots of climbing structures, a large sand play area, a bicycle powered merry-go-round and little kid swings."
"Permanent ping pong and billiards tables are available, as well as basketball and handball courts and swings."
"Fun toys/activities for the children."
"Great spot to let the littles run off some energy. There's sand, some water spouts (animals), tiny tot spot, 3 levels of play equipment and a merry-go-round powered by cycling."
"Basketball courts, handball court, swings, playground with sandbox, huge lawn to just lay out and relax and in the summer... Ping pong tables, billiards, table hockey and other activities are all available for rent, free of charge."
"Absolutely love the park especially if you have kids!"
Cons:
"Watch out for worker vehicles though because sometimes it feels like they want to run you over."
"I couldn't give it five stars because they asked me to take down my volleyball net."
"Gets a bit crowded on weekends and can be overrun with small kids (BPC is stroller city...) and the ground isn't terribly level (try to find a level patch to play games on)."
"There is a restroom, but it's across the street and down a bit, which isn't the most convenient for little kids."
"Battery park city authority old lady with glasses will harass you if you let your dog on green lawn."
"The sun is rather strong when it's out."
"The only complaint I have about the park is that it gets crowded rather quickly, much like any other hot spot in New York City."
Cleanliness and Maintenance
Pros:
"Beautiful, clean park with spectacular view of the Jersey skyline and the far distance view of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty."
"Clean public bathrooms! CLEAN!"
"The grass is well maintained and the area is clean."
"It's also generally very clean, and boasts great riverside views."
"The bathroom is exceptionally clean and well managed."
"Beautiful and clean, no issues here! Very nice views and safe feeling!"
"The park is so well maintained."
Cons:
"Dogs are not allowed but the rule is only loosely enforced."
"Dogs are not allowed on the lawn. But people break the rules anyway."
"This park is such a weird little find. There is a collection of sculptures from the same artist that made the sculptures in the 8th Ave A/C/L station, and they are extremely creepy. The tiny figures engage in all kinds of greedy, nefarious activities."
