Ambiance

Pros:

  • "The atmosphere is beautiful!"
  • "The ambience of the restaurant is incredible. It’s such a large restaurant space but feels very intimate and not too loud."

Cons:

  • "I wish the place was less dark and had more lights because I had a difficult time seeing things and walking in the restaurant."
  • "Additionally, the lighting, while trying to set a speakeasy-ish mood, is too dark in most places to read the menus."
  • "It was so dark I couldn't see to read the menu."
  • "The restaurant was a little dark for us boomers and our aging eyes."
  • "It was super dark to be able to read the menu."

Service

  • "Service was attentive and friendly."

Cons:

  • "I had to constantly flag down the waiter/waitress to refill my drink over both days."
  • "The waiter was a little spacey--food was frequently delayed and our table was not checked in regularly enough for a restaurant that requires ordering in waves."
  • "The server gave us the check... without asking if we were finished or needed anything else."
  • "Only complaint was the wait to be seated even with a reservation."
  • "The flow of service was not very good."
  • "However, service was …. lacking. The hostess and the waitress were both very aggressive to us for no reason."
  • "We had to wait 30 min after our reservation time."

Food Quality

Pros:

  • "The Kobe beef is a great choice."
  • "Items I highly recommend: duck scrapple bao, miso eggplant and short rib from the robatayaki section, broiled sea bass, and black cod fried rice."
  • "$80 per person for a 10-course meal, which included lobster tail, Kobe beef, prime rib, sea bass, lobster fried rice, and a scallop and crab medley. Excellent value for the quality of food."
  • "The food was beautifully presented and every dish had great flavor."
  • "The food is super delicious! Double Knot Red eye Tuna sushi is a must try!"

  • "The Japanese 'crispy' chicken was highly glorified chicken nuggets and very uninteresting."

  • "Incredible as always. We go here yearly for our anniversary and do the chef's tasting menu. 10 courses + dessert for $60 a person."
  • "The daily happy hour they have here is incredible value AND the selection is more than adequate."

Cons:

  • "Also on the chef's tasting menu when we ordered some of the 'premium' items they gave us an extra charge for those dishes which we were unaware of as it was not indicated on the menu as being premium."
  • "It was literally 3 bites of (very yummy) meat on a small skewer on a small tapas plate."
  • "The portion size was kind of small. It tasted fairly good but not worth the $8 I paid for it."
  • "The only thing was that the tables we were next to were so close together."
  • "Very overpriced for the quality of what was offered, the tuna tartare was the only standout."
  • "$87 a person and we all left pretty hungry with only one cocktail, one sparkling water ordered at the table."
  • "Since the group was 3x as big, we were expecting 3x the portions. It seemed that the portions were only doubled."
